Well that’s nice!

The sun is shinning and the weather is sweet as the old Finley Quaye song goes. I’ve woken this morning to the warming ping of my email telling me that Rose and Rebellion have won an award. I like days like these.

The lovely public nominated us for the Lux Magazine awards, putting us before the Lux judging panel who in their wisdom very kindly bestowed on us the accolade of Best Child Carrying Product.

Lux magazine are a luxury lifestyle publication, just typing that makes me feel just a little bit posh. I think I may even walk that little bit taller today shoulders out chest upright and all that. You can check them out at https://www.lux-review.com

I did toy with the idea of my own little awards ceremony, presenting my acceptance speech from the end of the dinning room table whilst Lou and the kids watched, nibbling on a few Canapé but thought better of it in the end. In my head it was going to be a very civilised Bafta style ceremony, which no doubt would have ended up escalating into something much more like a scene from Dick and Dom in da Bungalow, so probably best it stays in my imagination and doesn’t make it to reality. Plus we have just redecorated the kitchen so it saves the hassle of having to wipe the vol-au-vents off the walls when the food fight finally reaches it’s climax.

Its a funny feeling winning an award. It’s something to work towards and it’s a nice ego boost, but the most important thing is that it’s recognition of just how hard we try to please you, our wonderful, loyal, possibly slightly unhinged, mildly eccentric but very lovely customers.

10 years we’ve been doing this, and it has been a real labour of love. We have generally shied away from the whole awards thing as it’s normally dependant on some form of financial contribution, no doubt it’s the same in all sectors not just the baby sector, but I’m a bit old fashioned like that. I kind of believe that an award should reflect the quality of your products, your dedication to your customers and the general excellence of the product in question, not necessarily the depth of your pockets.

That’s why this one is one we are very happy to accept. Some of you out there took the time out of your busy lives to nominate us, off your own backs and with no arm twisting. Hopefully we’ve help created some happy lasting memories with our products and this is our customers way of saying thanks.

I love that thought.

So, if you are reading this and you are one of the nominators then you have our deep gratitude. Thank you, and thank you for putting your trust in us.

That’s enough from me. I’m off now to introduce myself to as many people as possible as the award winning Dave. Wish me luck, it probably won’t end well though if you know what life in a Welsh village is like!
